Central & Eastern Europeans - Entitlements

This guidance aims to provide information on A8 and A2 nationals’ entitlements to the labour market and unemployment benefits, statutory homelessness assistance, housing/council tax benefit, local authority accommodation, Supporting People funding and NHS services.

A8 nationals

On 1 May 2011 the transitional arrangements that had been put in place for nationals of the A8 (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) countries - those that acceeded in 2004 - came to an end. This group now have the same entitlements as all European Economic Area Nationals. Click here for information on what this means for local authorities and their partners in working with A8 nationals who are rough sleeping.

A2 nationals

Our guidance on A2 nationals was produced in partnership with the AIRE centre. It covers entitlements to the labour market, health services, homelessness assistance, legal advice and Supporting People services. Click here to view our entitlements pages.
