This practical guide to reconnecting rough sleepers is intended to support local authorities and their partners to develop this part of the service offer for people new to the streets with connections in another area as part of the No Second Night Out standard.
Reconnection is the process by which people sleeping rough who have a connection to another area where they can access accommodation and/or social, family and support networks, are supported to return to this area in a planned way.
This guidance presents the practical steps required to undertake practical reconnection interventions, including identification, assessment, the verification of information and the types of reconnection options available. It is largely based on the learning from the London No Second Night Out Pilot.
