It is very difficult to reduce evictions and abandonment without first understanding the causes of it. While our research has identified common causes, these will vary between services and between different areas, and therefore it is vital to undertake some initial work to clarify the specific causes for you.

When determining the methods to use to understand the causes, you will need to consider two main factors: how much capacity (particularly time) you have to do this, and how full a picture you are happy with.
