WK1: How to build relationships with mental health teams

WK2: Personalisation as a form of support

  • the principles of a person centred approach and of personalisation
  • how an agency can introduce personalisation into their service
  • the fears and challenges that may need to be overcome and how
  • how to work with staff to support them through these changes
  • the support that clients may need to make this happen
  • the impact that adopting personalisation can have on a service and on clients

WK3: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: what it is and how it can help

  • what Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is
  • how you can implement CBT within your service
  • how CBT can be used to support clients accessing your service.

WK4: Specialist support that can be provided for rough sleepers with poor mental health

  • the type of services that can be commissioned to support rough sleepers with mental health problems
  • details of Westminster’s Joint Homelessness Team, including information on the different agencies that are a part of the team, what the team does and how it carries out mental health assessments on the streets
  • how the Joint Homelessness Team offers specialist support for rough sleepers with mental health problems, including the type of support that it can offer.

WK5: Innovative and practical approaches to keyworking for clients with mental health problems

  • this session will encourage managers to think differently about how they manage their approach to keyworking and their keyworkers’ time
  • simple tips and innovative approaches to keyworking
  • the impact a different approach can have on the service and on the clients accessing the service.

WK6: Boosting emotional resilience for the workplace.

WK7: Dual diagnosis: what it is and how it can help

  • what dual diagnosis is and how it can support clients with co-existing substance use and mental health difficulties
  • how to engage with clients with substance use and mental health problems
  • the difficulties that can be faced in persuading mental health workers to work with clients whilst they are still using, and ways of getting around this.
