Porchlight - rough sleeping champions

Porchlight’s Kent Wide Outreach Service, commissioned by the Kent SP Team, provides one advice drop-in session, in each local authority area every week (twelve drop-ins a week in total) and a 24-hour free phone service. The drop-ins provide advice and information regarding housing options, evictions, housing & welfare benefits, health services, signposting, referral to other agencies and supported housing providers, assistance with accessing the private rented sector and where possible help to access emergency accommodation. The Kent Wide Outreach Service works with sofa surfers as well as rough sleepers to prevent as many people becoming street homeless as possible. This service provided to sofa surfers has seen a drop in the number of homeless people coming onto the streets.
