Women and homelessness: Churchill Fellowship findings
About the event
This year Esther Sample (Safer London) received a Churchill Fellowship to travel and find out what organisations in Canada, Sweden and Finland are doing to prevent and tackle women’s homelessness. Her research and blog had a particular focus on how we can prevent women’s homelessness, and how young women can better access support and safe housing before their situation escalates to years of homelessness. The fellowship built on Esther’s work at Safer London, where she oversees a new housing pathway that allows women fleeing abuse to maintain secure housing and avoid homelessness.
With Homeless Link’s Women’s Homelessness Conference coming up on 3rd December, now is the time for the sector to think about what other innovative models could be developed in the UK, and what can be learnt from overseas to help us do this. This webinar will be a discussion between Esther and Homeless link’s lead on Women’s Homelessness, Lisa Raftery, exploring how the approaches and models in Canada, Finland and Sweden could be useful or even replicable in the UK. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and take part in a conversation with people across England.
