HRA call for evidence: deadline approaching
At Homeless Link, we are in the midst of drafting our response to the MHCLG and as ever, we can only report on what’s happening for people experiencing homeless with your help and input. Many members have already been in touch and we’ve heard how the working culture of some local authorities has changed in response to the HRA: how new, key partnerships with local voluntary sector agencies have been formed and how those who would previously have been turned away by local authorities are being offered temporary accommodation.
However, our members have also told us of poorly drafted personal housing plans, of temporary accommodation silted because there’s not enough move-on, of weak support for people with complex needs and of inconsistent application of the duty to refer. Hear directly from two of our members and a few people with lived experience of the HRA.
Overall, the picture’s mixed and this needs to improve. Yet without evidence, we can’t argue for change. And without you, we can’t present the evidence.
Help us tell MHCLG where and how the implementation of the Act could be better via email@example.com or 020 7840 4421.
We have created a short video of some of the responses we've had so far:
