Taking place at the Museum of the Home, this national event aims to address the rising concerns around staff wellbeing and retention in the homelessness sector.

With so many great people and projects, working in the homelessness sector can be highly inspiring and rewarding. But it can also be very challenging and emotionally demanding, with a high potential for staff burnout. The further strain put on services and staff by the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted more than ever the importance of staff wellbeing.

Working Well aims to provide a space for workers and managers to step away and consider how organisations can be inclusive and supportive, how managers can look after their teams, and how staff can practice some much needed self-care.

There will be something for everyone with panel sessions, workshops and discussion groups for homelessness staff at all levels covering:

  • Caring for your wellbeing - with sessions including staff resilience and reflective practice, vicarious trauma, and dealing with bereavement in services
  • Caring for your staff's wellbeing - with sessions including spotting signs of burnout and practicing psychologically-informed supervision
  • Embedding a culture of wellbeing in your organisation - with sessions including embedding diversity and inclusion within your organisation and creating a healthy workplace

Planning your day - Not our usual conference

In the spirit of self-care, we want you to curate your day however you like!

Choose what you want to do, when you want to do it! Whether that is watching a plenary presentation in the main hall, attending a workshop session, looking around the exhibition stands and museum exhibition, networking over a coffee, or just taking some time out to enjoy an ice-cream in the sunshine.

Treat yourself!

Don't forgot to take some time off from learning and enjoy some of the other offerings of the day. As well as the fascinating exhibits of the museum, we will have a BBQ going throughout the afternoon in the lovely herb garden and gelato from Little Spoon. Or take some time to relax in our tranquillity room with chocolate and back and shoulder massages from Mahasana Mind and Body.

Celebrating the sector - Homeless Link Excellence Awards

During the day, we will be presenting our Homeless Link Excellence Awards! It's a great chance for the homelessness sector to celebrate and be inspired by the innovative and impactful work being carried out across the country. See the shortlist here and come along after lunch to show your support!
