Housing Law: Managing tenancies and licences

A one-day course for staff new to housing, those assuming additional responsibilities and those requiring a refresher course.  

The course equips staff with the required knowledge, skills and confidence to enforce the occupancy agreement but can also be tailored for staff supporting clients who are having enforcement action taken against them.

What will you learn?

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Be able to describe the properties of different types of occupancy agreements used in rented housing
  • Know how landlord and residents responsibilities are reflected in the terms of occupancy agreement
  • Understand what behaviour constitutes a breaches of an occupancy agreements and what formal action this instigates, including notices and legal proceedings
  • Appreciate how legislation applies to those not using a property as their only or main home and what happens to former resident belongings
