Bracknell Forest Council has been awarded funding for a Rough Sleeper Navigator as part of the Governments initiative to help end rough sleeping.  This is an exciting new role embedded within a new team structure within our busy Welfare and Housing Service to support individuals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping within Bracknell Forest.  We are recruiting a Rough Sleeper Navigator on a 12 month fixed term contract and who will be working as part of a developing team to deliver the initiative.

Navigators act as a named keyworker working with a caseload of clients to provide intensive support for people who are rough sleeping with complex needs, advocating and enabling them to access appropriate services to ensure a recovery pathway to sustained outcomes away from the street.  This may include sourcing accommodation for those individuals.

You will be required to support service users in a flexible, responsive way over the long term to meet local needs which will include early morning, evening and weekend working to fit the needs of the clients.

You will need to have an understanding of the issues that can lead to entrenched, long-term rough sleeping and be passionate about improving the lives of people with multiple and complex needs, be solution focussed with an ability to motivate others and provide personalised solutions which demonstrate innovation, creativity as well as iterative learning.  The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of Personality Disorder, complex trauma and addiction.

You will need to have the ability to manage challenging behaviour in a positive manner, able to work professionally with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent planning and recording skills.

Assessment and interviews for shortlisted candidates are likely to be held on 26th July 2019.  The successful candidates must be available to commence in this role ideally no later than the end of August however there may be some flexibility around this for the right candidate.  Salary will be negotiable between the salary bracket as advertised based on qualification and experience.
