Support Officer x2
We currently have a vacancy for 2 Support Officers in our Centre working with people who are homeless.
1x Full time (36 hours a week)
1x Part time (30 hours per week)
The salary for the part time post is Pro rata
About the Role:
The part-time post is currently funded for two years but subject to available funding will continue beyond this period.
The post holders will work with clients who use our Centre which provides services for those who are homeless or inadequately housed.
Both posts will take referrals from other members of the team and from external agencies.
The full time post holder will work to support people who are referred to our 19 bed shared houses. The purpose of the shared houses is to prepare people to move on to more permanent accommodation and the role of the support officer is to support them in the house and assist them to find more permanent accommodation. The support officer then helps the client to make the transition into more independent living.
The part time post holder will work to support people who are looking for help to find accommodation – often in the private rented sector. They will also provide support to 3 women who live in shared accommodation to support them in the house and assist them to find more permanent accommodation. The support officer then helps the client to make the transition into more independent living.
Both roles are very similar.
The job holder will provide emotional and practical information, advice and support to address:
- Housing needs and options
- Benefits entitlements
- Employment, training and education
- Mental or physical issues and problems
- Drug and alcohol issues
- Build social, cultural, leisure and faith support networks
- Avoiding harm to self and others
