A programme of courses for Frontline Staff in the homelessness and supported housing sectors. These courses will ensure you have the essential knowledge and skills to work with people who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

  • Communication skills

    Build on your communication skills to ensure the time you have to support the people you are working with is productive and positive. 

  • Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care for frontline staff

    An introductory course that will explore what Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care is, and provide an opportunity to reflect on how your service can be a safe and empowering environment for staff and the people you support.

  • Conflict Management: violent and aggressive behaviour

    Practical training to help you deal with verbal abuse, violence, threats and aggression. Learn techniques that can be adapted for use in your service, pre-emptive strategies and positive action, and de-escalation skills. You will also learn what actions to take after an incident has occurred.

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion

    Develop your understanding and promote good practice around equality, diversity and inclusion in your service.

  • Homelessness: An Introduction

    Gain an understanding of the homelessness sector, what the Government are doing to prevent homelessness and how it affects those who are experiencing it. 

  • Lone working

    Lone workers and their managers face a range of issues specific to their work. This course will explore areas such as health and safety, the maintenance of effective management systems, and communicating effectively and assertively.

  • Professional Boundaries

    Organisations that support vulnerable people must ensure that the rights and interests of individuals are respected and that the work undertaken by staff fully reflects this. Mistakes can have serious consequences. This course will explain how you should manage professional boundaries in your daily work.

  • Reflective practice and resilience for frontline staff

    For all frontline staff who are looking to build on their resilience and reduce the negative impact of stress in the workplace.

  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

    This course will consider the policies and procedures that all organisations must have in place as well as the skills and knowledge their staff need to take steps to safeguard clients; to know the signs and indicators of abuse; know how to raise safeguarding concerns within the updated guidelines; and to become familiar with new terminology associated with the Care Act.

  • Strengths-Based Practice: an introduction

    Find out how working with people's strengths can make their experience of services more dignified, useful and empowering - and lead to better outcomes.

  • Stress, Vicarious Trauma and Managing Wellbeing

    This course aims to develop emotional resilience amongst staff by exploring stress, compassion fatigue, burnout and vicarious trauma, and develop strategies and techniques for managing self-care and emotional wellbeing.

  • Unconscious Bias: awareness and tackling

    This course will help delegates to understand the psychology of unconscious bias and how to overcome it; enabling positive working relationships with colleagues and the clients you support.

  • Partnership working for better outcomes

    For all Local Authority and Voluntary Sector staff involved in the homeless assessment process. Understand who your local partners are in homelessness and other sectors and find out how you can work together.
