Event Overview:

Housing First is an internationally recognised intervention, based on evidence that individuals are more likely to remain housed and make progress in other aspects of their lives if they are given a stable home, and intensive, open-ended support. The approach has proven both successful and cost-effective in supporting people with experience of repeat homelessness and multiple disadvantage.

Housing First was first commissioned in England 10 years ago, and has since spread across the country. As the Covid-19 pandemic brings increased appetite and potential for new investment in housing and support, now is the time to reflect on what we have learnt in the last decade, the role of Housing First in the fight against homelessness in England, and how its reach can be increased.

This conference will provide an overview of the current picture and impact of Housing First in England; showcasing good practice in provision, sharing experience and expertise - as well as lessons learnt along the way - and considering what systemic and culture change is required for the future.

Who should attend:

This conference is aimed at people in all areas and stages of Housing First provision, including service providers, policy makers, and landlords. There will be breakout sessions targeted at different audiences; including a Housing First 101 session for those new to the approach, and session on innovative approaches to commissing, staff wellbing, building partnerships, and providing trauma informed support.

We are going digital!

This conference will consist of two days’ worth of online presentations, panel discussions and webinars, with polls, chat box and Q&A sessions to ensure you can get involved.

We are not expecting any attendees to join all sessions and instead you will be able to curate your own conference programme, mixing and matching the sessions that most interest you.  Recordings will also be available to attendees once sessions have finished, so if you missed a session you were particularly excited about you will still have a chance to watch it within the conference days.

To note

  • Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any requirements that will make this event more accessible to you (e.g. subtitled recordings of the sessions).  Though we will not have a solution to all requirements, we will always do what we can to try and make these events as accessible as possible.
  • This conference will have speakers providing the voices of those with lived experience of homelessness. We leave it up to the individual to choose whether they wish to share whether this applies to them when presenting.
