Homeless Link have designed a 6-module learning programme specifically to bring a frontline focus to Housing First. The learning programme will progress from an introduction to the Key Principles of Housing First, to delving deeper into the philosophy of Housing First, with the aim of providing a solid understanding and improving practice.
Who is this course for?
Frontline services that are, or will be, delivering Housing First.
What will you learn?
Modules 1 - 3
Exploring the background and evidence base of Housing First. These modules will explain the key principles, why they are important; and the 'key ingredients' for implementing Housing First in England.
These modules will give you the practical skills needed to help clients improve self-awareness, build motivation and self-esteem, break free from unhelpful behavioural patterns, and take responsibility for their actions and choices.
These modules will:
Provide you with an understanding of the background and evidence base of Housing First
Ensure you fully understand the principles of Housing First and why they’re important
Enable you to understand who Housing First is for and why
Provide you with the Housing First Key Principles
Provide you with information on the ‘key ingredients’ for implementing Housing First in England
Ensure you know where to go for more information
These modules will provide both information and a chance for you to explore your perceptions of some of the concepts and philosophy underpinning the approach.
Modules 4 - 6
These modules will provide you with a solid understanding of Housing First, providing a chance to delve deeper into the principles and philosophy of Housing First with an aim of shifting mindset and improving practice.
These modules will:
Fully explore the principles of Housing First and why they are important
Enable you to identify and utilise evidence-based practice for each principle
Enable you to discuss the challenges in implementing the principles in practice including ethical dilemmas that may arise
Use research and theory relating to trauma and psychology, to increase your understanding of service beneficiaries and why the principles are so effective
Explore what the principles look like in practice and the challenges of supporting people to move from being homeless to having a home
Enable you to identify individual and team strengths and development areas for effectively delivering Housing First
Ensure you know where to go for more information.
This course consists of 6 live interactive training modules, which will take place over 6 consecutive weekly installments. When you sign up, you will be signing up for all 6 modules.
We ask for a commitment from delegates to attend all 6 sessions. Sessions are not recorded, and slides will not be available until all 6 sessions have taken place.

Members - £175 per person - all six modules are included in this price - if you are a Homeless Link member, you will need to login/create a login using your organisation e-mail address in order to access the member rate
Non-members - £235 per person - all six modules are included in this price

Bookings to be invoiced
For bookings of 3 or more places, an invoice can be raised - please email Lana.Newby@homelesslink.org.uk to make bookings to be invoiced. Please provide names and email addresses of the delegates wishing to be booked for the training. We are unable to take requests for invoicing for fewer than 3 people for our online training.

Bookings for larger groups
This course is also available to be booked for staff teams of up to 20 people, to be delivered online "in-house" in live interactive sessions on dates to suit your organisation.
