Strengths-Based Practice: an introduction

Monday, 21 March 2022
Online | 9.30am-4.00pm

Find out how working with peoples’ strengths can make their experience of services more dignified, personalised and empowering.

This course will teach delegates how to incorporate strengths-based values, interventions, and principles into their work. The course will enable delegates to recognise, and build on, the strengths of the people they work with. The course will help delegates to develop practical next steps in order to make existing processes and practice more strengths-based. The course will also look at common misconceptions about the approach and how to challenge and overcome them.

What will you learn?

This course will enable delegates to:

  • Understand what Strengths-Based Practice and approach is

  • Recognise deficit-based practice

  • Understand the importance of personal values, motivators and goal setting

  • Identify strengths of the people you work with

  • Understand how to support the people you work with to connect to their environmental resources

  • Recognise how language and questioning techniques can either help or hinder progression

  • Support people to build resilience and increase wellbeing

  • Understand how to implement elements of Strengths-Based Practice in your service
