Do you support people experiencing homelessness who may have had difficult or distressing experiences with policing?

You are invited to ‘Your Voice, Your Rights’, a practical advocacy awareness event on police complaints, hosted by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The session is designed for staff and volunteers from homeless charities and frontline services who want to better understand how to support people to raise concerns about police conduct.

People experiencing homelessness can face additional barriers when making complaints or speaking up about poor treatment. This event will help you understand the police complaints system, the role of the IOPC as the police watchdog, and how you can support service users to know their rights and be heard.

The day will also provide space for homeless charities and advocates to share what they are seeing on the ground, including the experiences and concerns of the people they support in relation to policing.

By attending, you will gain practical knowledge, confidence and information you can take back to your organisation to strengthen advocacy for people experiencing homelessness.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch, and a subsidised restaurant will be available on site.

Places are limited, so please only request a place if you are able to attend for the full day.
