Big Issue North - Leeds

Services offered

Big Issue North is a street paper sold by homeless and vulnerably housed people in the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber. Vendors buy magazines from our offices for £1.50 before selling them on the streets for £3, keeping the profit. Additionally, the Big Issue North Trust supports vendors to change their lives and achieve their goals, including crisis, financial, accommodation, educational, employment and health and wellbeing support, provided both directly and in partnership with other local services.

Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Big Issue North is here for anyone who needs us. You don’t need any qualifications, work experience or ID or an address or bank account to get started. As long as you’re 17 or older, you can work with us, even if you have a criminal record. While a third of our vendors are homeless, the majority are not – people sell Big Issue North for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from lacking ID or a bank account, qualifications, work experience, English fluency or literacy to ill health or care responsibilities proving a barrier to more traditional forms of employment.
