Who is the project for?

Who do we help?

Single homeless men aged 21+ with alcohol or drug problems, including rough sleepers and those with low-medium mental health support needs. No local connection required. Must be prepared to address their addiction in an abstinence-based rehabilitation setting. Must be eligible to Housing Benefit.

How to get a referral

Referral agencies

Accept self referrals and referrals from any agency. Can accept referrals direct from prison. To refer either yourself or someone else, download and fill out a referral form https://www.sct.org.uk/referrals/ , and email the completed form to referrals@sct.org.uk. The referrals team will be in touch and if appropriate will arrange an assessment. The place at Acorn House will be dependent on the assessment.

Referral procedure

Phone daily 9am-10pm or write, email or download form. Agencies must fill out a referral form. Self referrals can ask for help with filling out the application form and interview will be arranged at a later date. If no current vacancies, will be placed on a waiting list. Maximum number on the waiting list is six. Must be entitled to benefits.

Support offered

Designated key worker and counsellor per client, 24 hour sleep-in cover. Residents are expected to adhere to a six-month programme to address their addictions. Acorn House is an abstinence-based environment and residents are drug and alcohol tested regularly and randomly to ensure safety.
