The Government has committed to getting rid of the Vagrancy Act. But they also committed to replacing it in the forthcoming Levelling Up Bill. They announced a consultation and Homeless Link reached out to our members for their views. These have been consolidated into this consultation response.

Crisis and the National Police Chiefs Council produced guidance in 2021 for local authorities, police forces and voluntary sector services on practical ways to respond to rough sleeping and begging with a focus on alternatives to enforcement. It was produced prior to the repeal of the Vagrancy Act.
