Bercleys Compass grew out of Bercleys’ experience of seeing first-hand that providing temporary accommodation alone is not always enough.
The service supports people living in temporary accommodation who may have complex or overlapping needs, including residents who are at the “edge of care”, people who may have significant combined needs but do not individually meet thresholds for adult social care or mental health services.
Specialist Workers provide tailored support with tenancy sustainment, money management, health and wellbeing, independent living skills, access to services and housing move-on planning. They also help residents reconnect with statutory, voluntary and community services, particularly where a change of placement has disrupted existing support.
A key part of the Compass approach is recognising that move-on is a shared responsibility, with Compass working jointly with Local Authority housing teams and other partners to support residents towards the most appropriate longer-term housing option. Both aim to help people build greater stability, confidence and independence while working towards a more settled future.
