This is the first episode of the second series of Going Beyond, a podcast for people working in the homelessness sector. In this series, we will discuss the effects of working in the homelessness sector on individual wellbeing, looking at managing stress, burnout, the effects of vicarious trauma and the importance of debriefing and reflective practice. In each episode, we will speak to a guest who will tell us about their expertise, provide practical tips for improving wellbeing, and discuss the realities of working in the sector.
In our first episode, we speak with Dr Nick Maguire, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton. We discuss what drives the feeling of burnout for people working in the homelessness sector and talk about ways in which to stop ruminating about work-related stress.
