Working with a peer mentor can be a game changer for people experiencing homelessness. Being supported by someone with first-hand experience can make it easier to connect and provide inspiration. Working as a peer mentor can also build confidence for the worker.
Whilst delivering a peer mentoring scheme takes significant input from the organisation, harnessing the power of peer volunteers may also build the capacity of your organisation to deliver support.
This event will explore ways in which your organisation might successfully work with peer mentors to deliver support and inspire your users.
During the forum, you will:
- Take part in discussions with other organisations about the opportunities of working with peer mentors.
- Hear from speakers already working in this space about their approaches to working with peer mentors. Speakers include:
- Christoph Daikhi Coproduction Manager at the 999 Club will discuss the design and delivery of their Move Plus project.
- Grainne Johnston of Housing First National Office, Ireland on the development of their Peer Support Specialist Toolkit.
- Lily Scott (Clinical Psychologist) and Loretta Shaw (Peer Mentor) from Outcome Home will discuss their Psychology and Peer Mentorship Programme.
- Begin to generate potential project ideas that can be applied within your organisation or area.
