Our quarterly online research forum, facilitated by Homeless Link’s research team, is for anyone involved in conducting research around homelessness. The Forum aims to create opportunities for joint learning and discussion, particularly in ways that lead to practical insights that can be directly applied to participants' work in the homelessness and adjacent sectors and help develop our practice. This is also a space for people to connect and support each other. This year, the theme of the research forum is Lived Experience.
This is the third session in our series, and will explore what it means to and how to involve people with lived experience in the analysis and interpretation of research findings.
Involving people with lived experience at the analysis stage can help identify themes that researchers might miss, help check the validity of analysis and conclusions, and highlight particular themes or findings that are more relevant to those with lived experience. This can help focus and reshape the research to ensure it echoes what matters to people. However, there can be barriers to doing this meaningfully.
In this session, we’ll hear from practitioners and researchers who will share their experience and reflections on the process of involving people with lived experience in research analysis. There will also be time for group discussion and to consider questions such as:
- How can we meaningfully involve people with lived experience in conducting analysis in research projects?
- How can the analysis process be made engaging and accessible?
The panel includes Beth Gallivan, Youth Voice and Communications Officer from Ending Youth Homelessness Cymru, and Gail Bulter, Participation and Learning Coordinator, Justlife Foundation.
