Help shape the future of the homelessness sector
Homeless Link's Board provides the strategic leadership that guides our work and supports our mission to end homelessness. Elected trustees bring valuable expertise, challenge and perspective, ensuring our decisions reflect the experiences of organisations working every day to support people experiencing homelessness.
That's why member representation matters. By electing trustees from across our network, we ensure the voices of members are at the heart of our strategy, governance and future direction.
Who we're looking for
This autumn, we're seeking nominations for elected trustee positions on the Board. This is an exciting opportunity for a chief executive or senior leader from one of our member organisations to contribute their knowledge, experience and perspective to Homeless Link's governance and future direction.
The role profile provides further details about the position, eligibility requirements and the skills and experience we are seeking.
We’re committed to strengthening the diversity of our Board and ensuring it reflects the breadth of experience across our membership and the communities affected by homelessness. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds, younger people, people with disabilities and people with lived experience of homelessness, whose perspectives will help inform and strengthen our strategic leadership and decision-making.
Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term and receive a full induction. The Board meets four times a year, either in person in London or online, and holds annual strategy days. Trustees are expected to serve on at least one Board sub-committee (Audit & Risk, Resources & Enterprise, Remuneration & Nominations). The role is voluntary, although we reimburse reasonable expenses.
We will invite applicants who meet the eligibility criteria to meet members of the Remuneration & Nominations Committee in September to discuss the role and their application. Following this process, a shortlist of candidates will be presented to members for election in October/November. The successful candidate will be announced at the Annual Members Meeting in December.
How to apply
To stand for election, please complete the nomination and EDI monitoring forms and return them to secretary@homelesslink.org.uk. As Board service requires a meaningful commitment of time, applicants will also need confirmation of support from their Chief Executive or Board Chair.
The closing date for nominations is 9am Monday 7 September 2026.
If you’d like an informal conversation about the role before applying, please contact secretary@homelesslink.org.uk and we will arrange for you to speak with a member of the Board or senior management team.
