With local elections taking place in 136 English local authority areas on 07 May, Homeless Link has launched a new Local Election Kit.
Accompanying the kit is a short briefing with tips on issues you can raise with councillors, and guidance on how to have constructive conversations about homelessness.
The kit aims to support Homeless Link members to start conversations with the people standing for election in their local councils. Also included in the package are template letters to welcome successfully elected councillors and newly appointed Cabinet members to their roles.
By providing these resources to members, Homeless Link aims to make sure ending and preventing homelessness is top of the agenda for local authorities across the country.
Because with upcoming local authority reorganisation, an ongoing devolution agenda, and the local roll-out of the National Plan to End Homelessness, this is a key opportunity for local authorities and voluntary sector organisations to work together to end and prevent homelessness.
Join the Policy Influencing Network session to discuss shaping local policy
How to shape effective local authority policy will also be a topic of our next Policy Influencing Network webinar on 29 April.
Join us and expert guest speakers from 11am to hear insight from those with first-hand experience of both local authority and voluntary sector influencing roles. There will also be opportunities to share our insight and experience with colleagues from across the sector in break-out discussions.
