Andrew Cooper

Mid Cheshire MP Andrew Cooper speaks with Homeless Link Senior Policy Manager Megan Hector.

On 29 October, more than a dozen MPs and their teams joined us to learn about the opportunities presented by the upcoming Homelessness Strategy during a Homeless Link Parliamentary Drop-In Sessions in the Houses of Parliament.

Hearing the difference embracing our Breaking the Cycle campaign could make, many MPs pledged to follow up both by connecting more with members in their area, and lobbying the government to ensure the Homelessness Strategy is a success.

Specifically, a number of MPs agreed to write to the Chancellor, urging Rachel Reeves to fully commit the Treasury to an active role within the Interministerial Group responsible for creating and implementing the homelessness strategy.

Speaking in a debate earlier in October, Homelessness Minister Alison McGovern confirmed the strategy would be published by the end of 2025. Homeless Link members can get involved in our Breaking the Cycle campaign for an effective Homelessness Strategy by using our Breaking the Cycle campaign pack.
