We're delighted to welcome YMCA Exeter as a new member of Homeless Link!

YMCA Exeter have been delivering Supported Accommodation for just over 30 years and have been serving the community as a Charity for over 175.

As a local YMCA and member of the national and international YMCA movement, their mission is to create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where all young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.

Despite their long history, YMCA Exeter have only just become a member of Homeless Link, so we asked YMCA Exeter’s Joint Chief Executive, Si Johns to explain a little about why they joined now:

“To be honest, I actually thought we already were members! We are affiliated with several outstanding organisations advocating for and supporting charities like ours that provide vital supported accommodation and wellbeing services. We’ve long considered Homeless link as a fantastic resource and supporter of the sector. We even use their invaluable In-Form system. So, like the radio saying goes – “long-time listener, first-time caller” – we are now delighted to be fully signed up with Homeless Link and look forward to working with them much more closely in the future.”

Recently, YMCA Exeter along with other providers in Devon and supported by Homeless Link, NHF and other national supporters recently managed to successfully campaign against Devon County Council's proposal to cease funding the homelessness prevention grant, resulting in the Council delaying the decision to better understand its potential impact. We will be continuing to work in partnership to make sure this vital funding is retained beyond March 2024.
