Our leadership programmes have been independently evaluated by our learning partners, M2. Their evaluation of the first two years of the programmes found that:
- The programme successfully increased participants’ leadership skills, knowledge and personal resilience.
- People were able to apply what they had learnt to their work, and to improve their practice.
- There were wider organisational benefits to individual participation. These could be seen in three key areas:
1. Stronger relationships with staff and Board.
2. More strategic collaboration and effective external relationships.
3. Improving organisational performance and strategy.”
Emerging Leaders
- 88% of Emerging Leaders England and 76% of Emerging Leaders London said that they considered themselves leaders at the start of the programme. By the end, both groups had increased their score to 100%.
- 100% of the final survey respondents for the final two cohorts said they could apply the knowledge they had gained in their roles.
- Participants increased their networks and drew on peer support from other participants. There was a 12% reduction in feelings of isolation from the start to the end of the programme.
I’ve had feedback from my manager that she’s noticed the difference in how I carry myself, that I’ve got more confidence.
Established Leaders
- 100% of both groups of Established Leaders (CEOs and Senior Leaders) said they were more confident in their leadership by the end of the programme.
- 95% of survey respondents said they had developed and implemented leadership skills, and that they were able to apply the knowledge in their roles.
- Participants increased their networks and drew on peer support from other participants. There was a 13% reduction in feelings of isolation from the start to the end of the programme.
To have access to a group of leaders in your sector is so beneficial - you can see the connections that have been made.’
Longitudinal impact
M2 also interviewed participants who had taken part in leadership programmes six or twelve months ago, to test the longitudinal impact. Their evaluation found the following key areas of impact:
- Improved confidence & self-awareness
- Increased networks
- Strengthened leadership practice
- Enhanced capability to navigate handling difficult conversations
- Peer support
I now have fresh eyes about what we as an organisation do, having spent time with people who do similar things in different ways. Bringing different leaders together… to go through a common syllabus… creates shared thinking that transcends the organisation.
