Self-harm and suicide

You've come from the skills framework. Here are some learning and development recommendations to give you the confidence to support people who may consider self-harming or suicide.

The understanding, recognition and effective response to signs of self-harm and suicidal thoughts or actions among individuals experiencing homelessness. Awareness involves the knowledge, skills and resources to promote safety and provide appropriate support.

Team Training

Our team training is delivered live online or in-person by an expert Trainer. You'll be given the opportunity to build on your understanding of self-harm and suicide with your peers in an interactive and safe space.

    This course aims to empower your team with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support individuals with self-harming behaviour, often rooted in trauma, and look at how to support people away from self-harming to alternative ways of managing their emotions.

    Suicide: Prevention, intervention and post-incident protocols

    Helping workers meeting clients who are experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviour, including individuals who end their own life. Exploring possible prevention and post-incident protocols, and how to support service users and staff after an incident.

    People experiencing homelessness are at a higher risk of ending their lives by suicide than the general population. Homeless Link partnered with Groundswell, Pathway and EASL to develop these resources in order to prevent as many deaths as possible.
