Recorded on 4 May 2023 as part of the Homeless Link Leadership Support offer, in this 90-minute webinar we hear from Centrepoint CEO Seyi Obakin OBE in conversation with Homeless Link CEO Rick Henderson.
Seyi talks about the challenges and joys of leading the UK’s largest youth homelessness charity for nearly 20 years - from how he looks after his and his team’s personal wellbeing to how we can collectively create a more diverse, inclusive sector.
This webinar has been funded by MHCLG through the VCFS programme and the City Bridge Foundation.
About Seyi
Seyi is the CEO of Centrepoint, a leading national charity working with homeless young people or those at risk of experiencing it.
He has been with Centrepoint for some considerable time, focusing on enabling young people to have skills, a job and a home. Prior to Centrepoint, his professional life spanned the whole spectrum of social housing provision, as well as professional accounting, and corporate banking.
In addition to his Centrepoint role, Seyi is also a member of the London Fire Brigade’s Audit Committee, a member of the DWP Social Security Advisory Committee, and Chair of Youth Futures Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to improve employment outcomes for young people from marginalised backgrounds.
Seyi believes youth homelessness can be ended and under his leadership, Centrepoint is working towards this aim. He was awarded an OBE in 2016 for services to youth skills, employment, and homelessness.
