Rough sleeping
The government is committed to ending rough sleeping by the end of the Parliament (2024). Homeless Link is working to ensure that this commitment is met and also that future rough sleeping is prevented by really tackling the causes of homelessness.

A disproportionate number of people who are not UK citizens become homeless. For some their right to be in the UK does not allow them any recourse to public funds. Homeless Link is working to ensure that people in this position do not face homelessness and get the help they need.

Everyone has the right to a decent home and the support they need to keep it. Different types of accommodation are appropriate for different people. But too often vulnerable people are open to exploitation and are offered poor quality of accommodation. Homeless Link is working to improve accommodation standards for everyone - but particularly the most vulnerable.

People who are homeless often have poor health and many die prematurely. Homeless Link is working to ensure that people facing homelessness can access appropriate and good quality health care, and that services are designed appropriately.

Comprehensive Spending Review submission 2021
'Everyone In' showed how effective universal, unconditional support is in tackling homelessness, uniting organisations and driving innovation. But the temporary housing solutions offered to many were, by definition, temporary. In October 2021 the government had the opportunity to build on this success by providing adequate, long term funding for the sector - as part of the government's Comprehensive Spending Review.
