This course offers a comprehensive introduction to supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs, dual diagnosis, and personality disorder (PD). Participants will gain insight into common mental health issues, substance misuse impacts, and PD-related disorders. They'll also explore current treatment and support strategies such as Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed principles, and the cycle of change. Additionally, they'll learn valuable tips for providing effective support, navigating professional boundaries, and implementing self-care strategies.

Who is this course for?

This course is most suitable for homelessness staff in frontline services who have received some basic mental health and/or substance misuse training, or have some experience of working with this client group.

What will your team learn?

Through this course, your team will:

  • Define and understand complex needs, dual diagnosis, and personality disorder clusters
  • Understand the responsibilities, available services, and sources of support
  • Explore various approaches to support and their interrelation
  • Navigate "The cycle of change" and delve into the principles of "Motivational Interviewing"
  • Grasp Trauma-informed principles and their benefits
  • Examine worker well-being and support strategies

How will it be delivered?

This one-day course can be booked for a team of up to 16 for in-person training or up to 20 for online training.

If you need something different, we can tailor the course delivery to suit you, with some potential adjustments in cost.

How much will it cost?

Non-members: £1,400

Members: £990

Please note, if you're opting for in-person training, the expenses of the trainer (e.g. travel to your location) will be added to your invoice.
