In this blog, Alabaré shares their experience in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and how Homeless Link's training has helped their teams.

About Alabaré

Alabaré's service provides safe, suitable accommodation alongside tailored support for vulnerable people, with an integrated approach, that addresses the complex challenges our clients face. We help them work towards recovery and independence.

In 2024/25, Alabaré supported 3,275 individuals experiencing homelessness across various regions, including North Devon, Wiltshire, and Wales. This marks a 12.3% increase from the previous year, highlighting the growing demand for essential support services.

By considering each person’s individual circumstances, we support individuals to regain stability, improve their wellbeing, and build the foundations for a more secure and independent future. Every person’s journey is unique, and our approach reflects this by delivering compassionate and comprehensive support to those who need it most.

Our learning and development

Alabaré is committed to continuous learning and development to ensure staff are equipped to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

The organisation focuses on building colleague confidence in areas such as trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and supporting individuals with complex needs. Through structured training, reflective practice, and shared learning across teams, Alabaré fosters a culture of growth, empowering staff to provide effective, compassionate care and support.

Training as a team

We approached Homeless Link because of their deep expertise in homelessness and their reputation for delivering high-quality, sector-specific training. Their courses align closely with our values and the challenges our teams face, making them a natural partner in supporting our professional development goals.

Training as teams has been incredibly valuable. It has strengthened collaboration, encouraged shared understanding, and created space for open discussion around best practices. It’s also helped build a consistent approach across services, which is vital for delivering cohesive support to our clients.

A wide range of teams across Alabaré have participated in the training, including frontline support workers, service managers, and team leaders. Courses on trauma-informed care, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Psychologically Informed Environments, have been particularly impactful, offering practical tools and insights that staff have been able to apply immediately in their roles.

The result

As a result of our training, teams are more confident in applying trauma-informed approaches and are better equipped to manage complex situations. We’ve also seen improvements in communication and reflective practice.
