Part of our Leadership Support programme, this 2 hour webinar on equity, diversity & inclusion in leadership gave managers, senior leaders and CEOs from voluntary community homelessness sector organisations an opportunity to hear from others working in the sector about their experience of increasing diversity and inclusion within their organisations.

Sessions were themed around four topics:

  • Governance and strategy - racial diversity on boards
  • Culture and voice - amplifying the voice of people with lived experience
  • Recruitment, management and development - using recruitment and management processes to increase diversity and inclusion
  • Data, monitoring and evaluation - baselining and analysing diversity data

We were joined by guest speakers who shared presentations about their organisations' experiences, including Malcolm John - Founder, Action on Trustee Racial Diversity; Sunny Dhadley - Lived Experience Leader; Helen Hodgson - Operations Director, Help at Home; Salma Ravat - CEO, One Roof Leicester; and Cainan Loubon - In-Form Head of Sales on behalf of Vicky Harwood, 1625ip Bristol.

Case studies and session notes on each of the four themes are available below.

Homeless Link also announced the development of a new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Maturity Self-Assessment Tool which will provide a structured set of self-assessment questions to help leaders in the homelessness sector assess the maturity of organisational EDI policies and practices.

The session was developed in conjunction with our EDI partner Agnes Fletcher. Agnes has 30 years’ executive and consultancy experience of delivering equality outcomes in the public, private and third sectors.

This webinar has been funded by MHCLG through the VCFS programme and the City Bridge Foundation.
